Finning International Inc. (FTT:CA): TD Cowen Raises Target on Earnings Beat

TD Cowen lifted its target price on Finning International Inc. (FTT:CA) to C$88 from C$81, reflecting strengthening fundamentals, improving sector tailwinds, and a clearer multi-year growth runway. TD noted that Finning’s latest quarterly results demonstrated not only resilient demand but also strong execution across its Canadian, South American, and U.K. operations. Margin performance exceeded expectations, driven by a favourable mix of product-support revenue, disciplined cost control, and continued progress on operational efficiency initiatives.

TD Cowen emphasized that Canada’s resource investment cycle is entering a more constructive phase, with higher levels of capital spending across oil sands, copper, gold, and other industrial metal projects. As the world accelerates electrification and grid-related infrastructure, Finning, through its Caterpillar dealership model remains well positioned to capture incremental demand for heavy equipment, power systems, parts, and maintenance.

The firm also highlighted Argentina as a meaningful long-term growth catalyst, as several major copper and lithium developments advance despite a challenging macro backdrop. Finning’s established footprint gives it leverage to future equipment orders, aftermarket revenue, and life-cycle services as mining customers scale activity. TD Cowen believes these opportunities could create a more diversified earnings stream and offset regional volatility over time.

In addition, analysts pointed to Finning’s improving capital allocation strategy, emphasizing disciplined investment, cash flow generation, and a commitment to shareholder returns through dividends and buybacks. Combined with a healthier balance sheet and a robust quoting pipeline, TD Cowen concluded that Finning is entering a period of sustained earnings momentum, supporting both higher valuation multiples and a more compelling risk-reward profile.
