Our research team comprises of Financial Professionals)<\/em><\/p>\n<p>Klarna Group plc (KLAR) emerged as one of the market\u2019s biggest losers on August 18, with shares plunging approximately 23% to US$15.06, making it one of the worst-performing major U.S.-listed stocks of the session. The selloff was particularly notable because Klarna\u2019s second-quarter results were actually stronger than expected. The market reaction was driven primarily by a sharp deterioration in the company\u2019s forward outlook rather than a disappointing quarter.<\/p>\n<p>Klarna reported Q2 revenue of US$1.042 billion, up 27% year over year, while gross merchandise volume increased 18% to US$36.6 billion. Despite the technical breakdown, the stock retains a consensus &#8220;Buy&#8221; rating, with the provided 12-month price target of US$24.50, implying approximately 63% upside from the current leve<\/p>\n<p>This creates a classic high-risk, contrarian setup. The technical indicators suggest investors should not attempt to catch the falling knife simply because the stock has declined sharply. At the same time, the large gap between the current share price and analyst targets indicates that traders believes the market may have overreacted to the guidance reduction.<\/p>\n<p>The 12-month outlook is therefore cautiously bullish but highly speculative. The fundamental business is improving, revenue continues to grow rapidly, U.S. operations remain strong and profitability has improved significantly. However, the reduced 2026 guidance demonstrates that Klarna&#8217;s previous growth assumptions were too optimistic, and the market is demanding evidence that the company can convert growth into sustainable earnings and cash flow.<\/p>\n<p>Klarna is currently a &#8220;Strong Sell&#8221; from a technical perspective but a potential &#8220;Buy&#8221; on analyst consensus basis.
